He may have designed glass for over 40 years, but Tomic´ still finds the process to be both his profession and his passion. When not at the glassworks, he can be found experimenting with new design concepts in a small studio that he built himself just behind his house. There he is surrounded by the things that matter most – pictures of his family, his beloved surfboards (he is an avid windsurfer) and, of course, his glass.

Made at Rogaška Glassworks (Slovenia) It takes 12 years of training to become a master glassblower…about as long as it takes to become a surgeon.

When you spend some time at Rogaška, you understand that tradition runs a bit deeper than you might expect. Many of the glassblowers we met proudly told us that their fathers or even grandfathers had been glassblowers and had stood on the very same platform where they now stand. Machines might be faster, but we haven’t found one yet that takes pride in its work.
